In 1941, the Las Vegas area celebrated the opening of 24 new casinos, establishing it as the world’s gambling centre. So, we have to rely on the data reported by the Nevada State Gaming Govern Board, which is a very reliable source since they control ownership, games, licenses, and everything else related to casinos and gaming in Nevada. In fact, there are so many casinos in Las Vegas that it is difficult to keep track of how many there are. This is due to the fact that Las Vegas boasts the most casinos per square foot of any city in the world. Las Vegas is known as the “Entertainment Capital of the World”.
There are approximately 150 casinos in Las Vegas based on these standards. This term, however, excludes sportsbooks, bingo, and horse racetracks. According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, a casino is defined as having more than 15 gambling machines, including slot machines and video poker machines. It’s a hard task to tell how many casinos are in Las vegas because, depending on how someone defines the term “casino,” the number will vary.
